From 2006 Milan canals can be visited by boat tours from Alzaia Naviglio Grande. You can chose two different itineraries cursing Leonardo Da Vinci canals.

These two itineraries are “Delizie” and “Conche” Starting from Naviglio Grande, during one hour boat tour, the first thing you will visit is the Vicolo del Lavandai which represents one of the many wash-houses along the Naviglio Grande, where for centuries women did the hand-washing for people of Milan.

Next you will see the most important groups of buildings along the canal, including the old church, the bridge and the wash-house of San Cristoforo.

On the way back, passing under the bridge called “Scodellino” (small bowl) which takes name from the nearby taverns, the boat will enter the Dockyard which once was a fully operational port used for trading with Lake Maggiore.

The cruise proceeds into the Naviglio Pavese thanks to hydraulic device, the famous “Conchetta” (small basin) lock, recently restored to show a practical demonstrations of how it works. After getting back to Naviglio Grande the boat tour finishes at Alzaia Naviglio Grande n° 4 from where we start our cruising.

Price 2008
Adults – Euro 12,00 , Seniors over 60 – Euro 10,00 (only on Friday), Children under 12 – Euro 8,00 (on Friday). On Saturday and on Sunday prices are the same for all ages.

Tour start from Alzaia Naviglio Grande 4 – See the map. You can reach this starting tour point using tram num.2 from Central Station or from Duomo square following direction to Piazza Negrelli. If you decide to use Milan’s subway net, take green line n° 2 to Famagosta and get off to Porta Genova.
