Malpensa to Como Lake by Train
From Malpensa to Como Lake and Lake Maggiore
For people arriving at Malpensa Airport, LeNord makes it possible to go straight from Malpensa to Como without going through Milan first. Unfortunately the English version of LeNord website is not functioning - so the following explains how to use the
Italian website. The same you can use if you want to visit Lake Maggiore.
Go to
www.lenord.it.You will see:
- 'Ramo' means "branch". You should see "Ramo Milano", or "Milan branch", which is the structure that you want (leave it as it is).
- From "stazione di partenza" (departure station), from the rightmost field, use the pull down menu to choose "Malpensa Aeroporto" (Malpensa airport).
- From "stazione di arrivo" (arrival station), from the rightmost field, use the pull down menu to choose "Como Lago" (the station in Como closest to the lake).
- For "Data", enter a date. I entered 17 July 2010.
- Enter the time of departure next to "Ora di partenza". Enter an hour after you land at Malpensa airport. I entered 07:00.
- Click "Ricerca" (Search).
After few seconds you will get the following:
Da Malpensa Aeroporto a Como Lago il 17/072010 a partire dalle ore 7:00. Open or download '
From Malpensa Airport to Como Lake' pdf file.
It’s very important to know that you have to change train (Cambio Treno) at Saronno (this small town is known by famous Amaretto di Saronno Liquor).
The same procedure you can apply if you decide to visit Lake Maggiore from Malpensa Airport, adding Malpensa Airport as departure station and Laveno Mombello (Lake Maggiore) as arrival station. Even in this case you have to change (cambio) train to Saronno. It takes more than two hours to get to the Maggiore Lake.(Laveno Mombello).
