Panettone
Panettone literally means a big bread even it has nothing to do with it. It is originally from Milan, used for Christmas in whole Italy. It has the shape like a dome and main ingredients are water, flour, butter, eggs and dried candied fruits and fragranced with vanilla powder.
Panetone is served for breakfast as one of the most popular Italian cakes used any time of the year.
The origins of Panettone date to the Middle Ages used in Milan from the 15th century. There is a old story about this cake when a poor baker called Toni who had a beautiful daughter, decided to give her hand to the young Milanese aristocrat. The young couple started to create a new variation of this traditional bread, more butter, more eggs and candied orange peel and other dried fruits. Unexpectedly this new creation, known as Pan di Toni, became a favorite cake of wealthy noble Milan families. Later the name has changed to Panettone.
The most famous is ‘Le Tre Marie Panettone’ conquering the world with its light and buttery flavor. Panettone is hard to be made at home, specially because of numerous procedures. The most difficult is a rising process. It’s much easier to order it in its elegant and decorative box, practical as a
gift giving not only during Christmas period.
