Many oversea travelers getting to Milan fly into Milan’s international airport Malpensa located about 50 km north . It ‘s the biggest of three Milan’s airports. Malpensa has been recently renovated and a considerable process of enlargement made it one of the most modern hubs in Europe.
It consists of two different terminals linked by a shuttle bus. Therefore upon arrival and departure check which terminal you will be landing at or taking off.

Orio al Serio Airport is the smallest airport but it has a very important function of support in relation to Malpensa and Linate airports. It is often used in case of emergency as in case of fog. Getting to Milan by Car
It is very simple to reach Milan by car through the four main motorways:
1. Motorway A1 linking Milan with Bologna, Florence and Rome
2. Motorway A4 connecting Milan with Turin and Venice
3. Motorway A7 linking Milan with Genoa
4. Motorway A8 - A9 connecting Milan with Switzerland (to Lakes districts)
It is important to remind that these are toll-motorways: entering the highway a ticked is to be collected and at the chosen exit a price regarding the number of kilometers run will have to be paid. The speed limit is 130 km/h.(81 miles) Along the motorway there are information desks known as Punto Blu (Blue Point) providing assistance and details on available services such as Viacard or Telepass enabling drivers to pass through toll gates without queuing up.

Getting to Milan by Train
If you choose train to reach Milan you will inevitably get to Stazione Centrale (Central Railway Station) , the main railway junction in Lombardy. It’s at short distance from the city centre and is very well served by three underground lines (Red, Green and Yellow) and a great number of trams and buses.

Stazione Centrale is an impressive building characterized by huge and magnificent white marble statues. It is also a beautiful historical building, inaugurated in 1931, after 25 years of construction works intended at meeting a growing demand of railway networks. In spite of its huge dimension the increasingly railway traffic passing through Milan is partly diverted towards two slightly minor railway stations: Garibaldi and Lambrate.
