Franciacorta, Italy’s sanctuary of sparkling wine

Where is Franciacorta?

Franciacorta is the area between Lake Iseo and the beginning of the Po River Valley, with 19 municipalities in the province of Brescia. It’s known throughout the world for its wines of the finest quality.

This is also a district of numerous castles, mansions, old churches and villas just waiting to be visited. One of the best ways to visit this valley is hiring a bike. There are many organised bike tours among the valley vineyards where you can discover the flavours of a world-famous land. Even Tuscany can be jealous on the beauty of this valley.

Franciacorta scene

I particularly recommend to visit the 17th century Palazzo Torri, situated in a green valley, one of the most silent and secluded corners of the dale. There is a castle (Castelo di Bornato) dating back to the 13th century, located in Bornato with a stunning villa and the garden from 16th century.

I almost have forgotten to tell you that this area is famous for the thermal bathe near Ome town, known as 'Terme di Ome'. Here is the map of this valley.

The major wine producers are:

- Bellavista

- Ca del Bosco

- Contadi Castaldi

- Monte Rossa

- La Fioca
